These are some existing pop magazines with their conventions labelled.
I placed my masthead at the top of the magazine and made it quite big so that it is noticeable and because it is at the top of the page, it will be the first thing that is seen by people in shops. I also made it pink so it matched with the colour scheme of my magazine and also so it is bright and eye catching. I made sure that the font of my masthead was really easy to read so it can be easily noticed and people will know what it is as soon as they see it so they are more likely to pick it up. I also used a sans serif font which is conventional for pop magazines as it appeals to the target audience and is also informal.
My main feature story is large so it follows the conventions. This means that after the masthead, this is what the reader will see. It also has the extra information in a smaller font so the name really stands out. I also made it a bright colour so that it is really noticeable and also, the colour of the outline matches with the colour scheme on the rest of my magazine.
My secondary images follow the conventions because they have direct mode of address and also have a white background to make it look like a photo shoot made just for the images that are in the magazine. This will make people want to buy it because they know this is the only place to get those posters.
I used plugs to promote things in my magazine. I followed the conventions by making them quite large and I also used yellow to make them bright and also make sure that the writing on them was easy to read because yellow is a bright colour. I also made them both the same colour so that they fit well together and bring the magazine together. I chose to use an iTunes voucher because it is a music magazine so this enforces that and makes it even more obvious for the audience.
